Gap (gang-sheet spacing)
Gap is the minimum spacing a layout reserves between neighbouring item rectangles on a gang sheet. It is not the same as outer sheet margin, visible-art clearance, or a cutter’s required lane. A smaller gap relaxes packing geometry, but only a finishing test can show whether the resulting pieces remain separable and repeatable.
In practice
Transparent padding can make the visible artwork farther apart than the configured gap because the packer measures reserved bounds. A cut path or mark can require more room than the colour preview shows.
NestSheet starts at a 2 mm gap. That is an editable product default, not an industry standard. Choose a value from the exact cutting, handling, registration, and customer-handoff process.
